SCC-from-NW---mod.jpg (121718 bytes)

The museum of abolition will be located on the second floor of the Smithfield Community Center, 5255 Pleasant Valley Road, Peterboro, New York, when sufficient funds have been raised. A museum campaign commenced in 2007.

In March 2005 the Upstate Institute arranged for The Exhibition Alliance to meet with the Cabinet of Freedom to consult on exhibit development. The museum committee, led by Dr. Milton C. Sernett, professor emeritus Syracuse University, has created a design for the first museum installation. This initial exhibit will provide visual, audio, tactile, and electronic interactive opportunities to engage the visitor to understand the evolution of the abolition movement from Colonial America to the period after the Civil War.
